Moon objective
editorial design
Concept
To mark the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission, this research dissertation seeks to explore, through the medium of graphic design, the many facets of this major historical event, drawing on both the emotional resonance it evokes and the collective imagination it inspires, as well as the scientific and technological rigour that made it possible.
By bringing these contrasting aspects together, this study offers an analysis of two approaches to design: on the one hand, functionality, focused on efficiency, clarity and precision; and on the other, seduction, which draws on emotion, aesthetics and subjectivity.
The project arising from the dissertation seeks to explore how an editorial project might embody the convergence of these two visions, which are often perceived as opposing: how might this duality be given form in a publication that reflects both the mythical dimension of the space race and the technical complexity of the feat achieved?
